    Bikes! Honda CT90

    1967 Honda CT90

One day after class, one of my web students asked me if I might be interested in a bike she had in her garage. All she knew was that it was an off-road Honda, it was from 1967, and it had been her father's.

Maybe, I said. Send me the details.

She wrote -- it's a Honda 90 with trail gears. I asked WetLeather: what do y'all know about this bike? The response was immediate and nostalgic. It seems this was everyone's "first bike" -- taking it off Sharon's hands seemed like a way to experience a childhood that I'd never had!

So the last Saturday in April, Jim Horton and I hopped in his truck and headed to Federal Way. The bike was in great condition! Only 1200 miles; original tool kit. Very few dings.

First order of business was the State Patrol inspection station. The bike was titled in Oregon, and last 'plated' in 1985. With a nod to the non-DOT tires, we got an off-road approval. Next stop: Renton Motorcycles, for Sparky to order new tires (and oohhh-and-ahhh over the bike, of course).

It needs a little TLC; the battery is post-1985 but will probably also need to be replaced. All in all, a neat summer project, with the goal of displaying it at the VME gathering in August.
